Sabyasachi Mukherjee – Fashion Designer

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a very famous and one of the best Indian fashion trends designers. Sabyasachi is a well-known name not only in India but also in the International fashion middle-class fraternity. Sabyasachi was born on 23rd February 1974 in K middle-classBengali family. His mother, Sandhya Mukherjee worked at a government Art collage who had keen interest in handicrafts. His Father, Sukumar Mukherjee lost his job when Sabyasachi was just 15 yrs. old.


Sabyasachi Mukherjee completed his 10+2 from St. Xavier College. He wanted to do graduation from NIFT (National Institute in Fashion Technology) but his parents wanted him to become an engineer. Shopping Online, They were reluctant of his choice as they couldn’t understand how a course of cloth designing can give him a safe and secure career. When his parents refused to pay his admission fee for NIFT, he sold all his books to pay for it.





After graduation in 1999, he started to sell designer merchandise using the label Sabyasachi. In 2001, he won Femina British Council’s most outstanding young Designer of India award. He has been a part of many prestigious National and International Fashion Shows and bagged numerous awards.
In 2012, he appeared on NDTV Goodtimes’ show Band Baja Bride, which made him popular with the masses. Sabyasachi designed jewellery and dresses for the Bride to make their dreams come true. He has also started a collection of kid’s wear using Indian techniques and handlooms, as well known as ‘Chota Sabhya’.Sabyasachi has also launched a line of jewelry exclusively designed by him in association with the GAJA brand.

Sabyasachi’s design philosophy is ‘Personalized imperfection of the human hand’. Taking inspiration from his hometown Kolkata and also picking up something from wherever he visited, Summer Shopping


he believes that “clothes should just be an extension of one’s intellect”. He does a lot of research on fabrics, textures and detailing before creating any dress. He describes his own collections as ‘an International styling with an Indian soul’. His collection is for people who prefer to walk a path less traveled.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee is Associate Designer Member of Fashion Design Council of India. He is the youngest Board member of the National Museum of Indian Cinema. 
Starting


his Bollywood journey with ‘Black’, he has designed costumes for many Bollywood films. Guzaarish, Baabul, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Raavan, and English-Vinglish are some of his best known works. Rani Mukherjee, Sridevi, Tabu, Shabana Azmi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sushmita Sen and Kareena Kapoor etc. are some of his celebrity clients. Criticized for various fashion blunders, Vidya Balan then chose to wear only Sabyasachi dresses for the longest time.


Many mothers dream of getting to see their daughter in Sabyasachi dress on her wedding day. It’s my dream too and hope it turns out to be a reality soon.
