Char Dham Yatra is one of the great significance among the Hindus. There is highly belief among the Hindus community that a Char DhamYartawahes away your all sins of a person and takes him to the Moksha. It is also said that a Hindu must visit once these Dham pilgrimage places in his lifetime. All the Char Dham is spread across the country and also different abodes of Gods.Starting from the north, Badrinath, Puri in the east, Rameswaram in the south and Dwarka in the west. The term Char Dham was given by the Shri Adi Shankaracharya.Let start to explore these famous Char Dham of India.


Badrinath


Badrinath is one of the most beautiful places situated at the Himalayas in the town of Uttarakhand at a height of 3133m above sea level. The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva. And people have believed that at this place Lord Shiva had done his penance. According to the Hindu mythology, Goddess Laxmi saw lord shiva undertaking his penance in open than she took the form of Badri tree to provide him the shelter. The best time to visit this pilgrimage site is May to October.

Puri


The Jagannath Temple is situated in Puri, Odisha. The temple name Jagannath is derived froJagatNath, which means the Lord of the universe. The idol of three deities of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are worshipped in the temple and all they are made from wood.The specialty is that every twelve years these wooden idols are replaced ceremoniously. The main festival is Chariot Festival and Rath Yatra. The best time to visit JahnnathPuri is from October to April.


Rameswaram

Rameswaram temple is located in the island of Rameswaram and the temple is dedicated to  Lord Shiva. Name of the temple is gained after the returned of Lord Shiva from Sri Lanka.  For the devotees, the temple is open from 5 am to 9 pm (except 1-3 p.m.)The time from October to April is the best to visit this pilgrimage site.

Dwaraka



Dwarkadhish temple is popular for a Jagat Mandir, which is located in Dwaraka in Gujarat. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Who also know for the king of the Dwarka. According to the Hindu mythology the temple as built by the grandson of Lord Krishna " Vajranabha".The temple is also famous for the Mokshapuri as it believed that the person who visits this pi site can achieve the Moksha. The timings for Darshan in the temple every day is from 6.30 am to 1 pm and then from 5 pm to 9 pm. The best months to visit the temple are from October to March.


The Char Dhams are run and maintained by their respective committees and the government also takes adequate measures to provide services to the devotees and for the maintenance of the temples.
